We are from Siberia, city Krasnoyarsk. We long discussed what to tell you
about our places,
because they are not only nice but at the same time they are unusual. First
some words about
the names. We don't know the meaning of the word "Siberia" in our time.
Many people-many
opinions. But we believe that this word comes from the tatarian language
and means "sleeping
region" or "sleeping kindom".But some people think it comes from
mongolian word "siber",
that means clean, the other-it comes from russian word "siver", that means
"north ". All
meanings are right because it is a big , amazing, mysterious and unique
part of the Earth.This
ancient place have been keeping many secrets and mysteries of the disappeared
civilization till
now.
Krasnoyarsk is one of the biggest city and the centre of the Krasnoyarsk
region was founded
in 1628. One of the streets is named after voivode Andrey Dubenski who
put ashore a
detachment of 300 cossaks in spring of 1628 right where the little but
rough Kacha river falls
into the Yenisei. Here on the steep banks of the Yenisei the goal was founded
by cossaks. The
monument in honour to the voivode was opened not long ago on the high left
bank of the
Yenisei and Kacha Rivers.
The greatest sight of Krasnoyarsk is the river Yenisei. This word of
Tungus origin "ionessi"
means "high water".Some windows of our school face at the Yenisei. We can
see it in all
seasons. In summer many staem ships and boats sail up and down. Early in
the mornings
fishers go to caught fish. May be they 'll be lucky. But we can't swim
in it because the water is
very cold, only the most courageous persons can affort themselves to swim
in the water of the
Yenisei. Some of them do it in winter. We called them "walrus".In winter
in spite of the great
frost the water in the river doesn't freeze and great fog covers the area
of the river. In summer
the air is fresh and people like walking on the bankments of the river.
Next to our school there is
a nice square where we often ride bikes or rollerskate.
The fauna of the region is rather rich and diverse. Some years ago the
Siberian Zoopark of
fauna and flara was constructed in the countryside of the city. You can
see reindeers, bears,
polar bears, sables, sqiurrels, links, foxes, polar foxes there. Yaks and
stags, elks, roes live in the
Zoo. Also you can see many birds: wood-grouse,hasel-grouse, heath-cocks,
partridges and so
on. The Zoo is the funniest place for children. They like to go there almost
every day off.
