When I have a birthday, my parents and friends come over and we have a
party. But only sometimes our cousins come. This year I got 9 birthday
spanks and I get a few phone calls every year. Oh yea and my birthday is
September 22.
Each year on my birthday, my grandparents come down from Owen, Wisconsin
and Blooms burg, Pennsylvania. That is one party for my family. There is
another party for my friends . My friends come over after my family party.
We play games and have lots of activities. In about the middle of the party
we eat cake and I blow out the candles.
On my
birthday my grandma calls and sends me a gift. And I get to pick the food
for dinner but it has to be healthy. We have a party for friends and then
for family. But my sisters and brothers give me ten spankings. And the
best thing of all is eating the cake.
The students in my room are very excited when their birthdays come around
each year. Most students go out to eat a special dinner for their
At each party, we will have a special birthday cake with candles marking each year of life. The student gets to choose the flavor of cake and the type of frosting used. You can make the cake at home or buy it at the store. When you buy it at the store, you can have it decorated any way you like. With the cake you also eat ice cream. Ice cream comes in many different flavors. Before you eat cake and ice cream, everyone sings the Happy Birthday song: Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear________. Happy Birthday to You..... Then the birthday person secretly makes a wish and blows out the candles on the cake. Then for fun, everyone gives the birthday boy or girl, soft swats on the rear end. (just for fun) It's like pulling on ears in your country. Then the birthday person gets to open up gifts. The gifts are usually clothes or toys, or whatever was suggested earlier, by the parent. At our school, we also sing the birthday song, and have a special sweet treat to share with everyone in the classroom. This is usually done with younger students. Then the principal gives the student a birthday ribbon and pencil with the name of our school on it. Every family celebrates birthdays in their own special way. The children really get excited and can't wait for the next one to come. Mrs. Ackerman,
