Birthday  in Canada

Parents of children up to around 13 or 14 make a bigger show of birthday celebrations here in Canada than do people of other ages. In fact they seem to try to outdo each other in terms of providing entertainment for the kids. There are even businesses that cater to kids parties. They provide food and games for the kids to play. One is called Chucky Cheese.

A cake with a candle for each year is always part of the celebration. The person whose birthday it is gets Happy Birthday sung to them and blows out the candles and makes a wish. Adult parties are more low key and may just involve immediate family. Milestone years like 30, 40, 50, and 60 are often celebrated with many guests, espaecially 40 and 50.

My name is Alexandra.. I live in Montreal, Canada.
I spend my birthday either at home with my friends and family, or at a restaurant with friends and family. There are no special tradution to celebrate the birthday. I wear on this day casual, jeans and sweater mostly. As presents I get clothes, books, certificates for music, bath stuff... On this day we usually have Pizza, cake, junk food mostly.
I remember my birthday when I was seven, I had my first sleep over party. It was a lot of fun.
